We left Daybreak Marina (awesome folks) around 8 am, and headed out to check some spots for grouper.  After no luck we decided to head back in to get our share of the snapper.  We had picked up some live squirrel fish while out in fed waters.  We came back to a little spot located "off of the pier"  we ended up catching a short gag, and the rest snapper and trigger.  We did have a 22 inch snapper and the others were 16,17, and 18 inch.   we headed back in at 2:30, it took about an hour and a half to get back in from 7 miles out.  West wind was howling!!!!going back out this week hopefully to get some of those early chicken dolphin.   I will try to post some pics tonight.

Grayson, ( my 11 year old son)

You did an awesome job fishing with Me and Bebo,  I am looking forward to us fishing together this summer instead of you and your sister sleeping in the Cuddy.

I am happy for you that you have found the perfect fishing partner. Bucking that west wind back to the pass is nasty business! It is a crying shame they didn't drop some of that bridge rubble in state waters to the Southwest. It is sitting out there very conveniently for the commercial guys to pick clean. I wish you would have had more success with the groupers. You sure had the ideal bait. Did you try butterflying the squirrels or just fish them as is? How was the snapper bite in Federal waters? I am just assuming that you probably encountered some while you were trying for grouper.

snapper bite in the fed waters was fantastic.  22-24 in snapper 4 times.  It was a shame to throw them back.
