| I messed up and left one of my batteries on the other day. When I came out to the boat I switched the battery off and switched to the number 1 battery. When I switched the battery on, the trim motor kicked in. It runs until I hold the UP button. The down button does nothing. Did the switch or motor short out when the battery was on? My boat is now unusable because of this. I can't even turn the battery on! Any inputs??

Either a switch or a relay. Easy to troubleshoot. Disconnect the switch on the cowling. If it still runs, disconnect the switch on the controller. If it still runs bad relay or slight chance of a shorted wire. Bring it by the shop and I'll take a look at it.

Actually I think it's a Johnson. I have changed more OMC Controller switches than any other.
