My son got a .410 for Christmas and ammo is hard to find. I have a ton of buckshot, slugs, #4 turkey and many other loads for 12ga. Will trade for .410 ammo...also buying .410 ammo

have you tried bass pro?  I recently saw some there.  (Spanish Fort) and also saw some in walmart in foley.  I know i shot a .410 for years and only shot slugs, and #6 or #7 1/2 have seen #4shot for them but is rare.

Yes it does! I need .410 shot. I know it is easy to find... I was hoping someone had some that they did not need...maybe sold a .410 and inadvertantly kept the ammo...It is a popular load I just do not understand why it is so expensive!

sorry chef, I was under the impression that you couldnt find it and I was just trying to make sure you found some to get that kid in the woods before season was out.

as for why they are so expensive.....I did read a few weeks ago a magazine article about reloading, and the  savings etc.  The article said that the 12 ga. is of course had much larger amounts of all the materials in them than any of the other smaller gauges, but that they were produced in such larger quantities that it was cheaper to produce them than a 20ga, 16ga, 28ga or 410.   It apparently cost them more money to convert their machines over to produce the smaller products, than what the smaller quantities of materials that they use in the smaller gauges save them.  Therefore passing the cost on to us.  The article did go on to say that reloading the smaller gauges would save great deals of money for an avid shooter.
