| I took Eric's lead from yesterday's post and hit the Sound today @ 6:20am. (took my lazy butt 20 minutes to get out of bed) Hammer down on the 300 yammy to make up time, dropped the tollingmotor to go in stealth mode and headed to my 1st docks. Found some mullet and started working them with gulp- jerk baits, shrimp and crab, 1st fish, 7:15am...
keep in mind, I have to take pics by myself. Then a couple of rats...

Lower slot
DINNER RED 4.5lbs
I sat on one of the largest schools of mid to upper slot reds I've ever seen in the Sound in a long time...they were not real hungry; these fish were less than 25ft from my boat at times; and followed baits to within 10ft of the bow, then just "mosied" away. I was casting at times in a frozen postion on the casting platform with just a flick of my wrist for fear that my arm movements would spook them...fun but frustrating. All fish were caught on gulps and jigs, AND only on a fresh new bait, anything previously used to catch a fish, or was beat up was ignored!!!! All in all a good morning, fishing was over by 10am!

Nice job! I fished there a lot after going out there with Eric H., but the bite was slow. I guess it's getting better.

| Hi Eric, Lot of boats running up and down, but most of them are so noisey and spooky the odds of them catching anything are slim. Plus they have no patience!!! There were quite a few boats southside too, but no reds; that I could find. Nothing secret about that area, been fishing it for years, However, i've been doing a lot redfishing West of the pass this summer. Your post just helped me save some gas, thanks, and I have my 1 red for the week, that's pretty much my self imposed limit, along with a 22" minimum on my boat. (unless we're really depsarate, which I'm not) I actually didn't make it to where you fished yesterday, I know that enitre area like the back of my hand. I found some fish 1st stop and followed them dock to dock till the wind changed and picked up. Thanks for the post and tip, I would have been hunting the shoreline!!

| What the H@LL ???????? I launched at Woodlawn at 8am and went accross the sound (the beach side) into a little cove where you could see portofino easily kind of accross from Tiger Point, beached the boat and wade fished using live shrimp under a popping cork, also live shrimp on the bottom, and every lure I had in my box, all I got was one ray on shrimp on the bottom, one TINY spec on gold spoon, a puffer fish, and one large pinfish. HUGE specs jumping all around, WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING WRONG ?????? Besides not getting in the water early enough ! If you need me I will be closing the garage and running a hose from the exhaust of my running truck into the cab while I take a nap ! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr we were pretty close to you. we tried all kinds of live bait. ly's worked the best today. 5 seconds after it hit the water the cork would disappear. we ran out of bait several times and would only get enough to get us by so we could get back on them. small pin fish would be our second bait. i will say the bite was early and very steady. i used gulp shrimp for a while with one taker. little baby cobia. i thought it was a remora until i grabbed it best morning iv had in a while. the early bird gets the worm
