Ok, so its a long range model but it does show Ike staying on its Westward track all the way through the Yucatan with no impact on us. Way too early to tell but looking at a few other things it does look promising.

A few of the latest model runs have a slight curve to the North past Sunday. Best to wait and see, still way out there.

A change in the long range model as Ike transits West and enters the Gulf on the 10th near Cuba and the Yucatan. On the 10th-11th a strong cold front will be moving through the US and will near the Mississippi valley by the 11th. The models are hinting at the front pulling Ike up into the Gulf coast. Of course way too early to tell.

Holy Crap Batman....I knew I shouldn't have put my patio furniture back out yet. This is going to be week #3 that I move furniture and sandbags.

The Wunderground GFDL model has Ike a Cat 4 passing through the gap between Haiti and Cuba. I'm no weatherman, but I sense this isn't going to be good.

I too... am tired of bringing stuff in... then... back out. Plants are STAYING on the back porch... until the Atlantic is clear.

Just maybe.... I should start thinking about filling the sand bags... and avoid the rush.

Genesis,

Do you think it has good odds of getting in the Gulf?  It seemed to me that they are predicting a jog south and then back up north..

By the way, if that was you on Glenn Beck.. good job.

Very good news this morning, the models are now coming together a bit better on Ike. Now it seems Ike will follow the similar path that Hanna is taking. Still bears watching of course.

I do not like how the recent model runs keep the ridge over Florida longer and keep Ike on a more of a westward track.  They were pretty certain yesterday that it would not be a Gulf Storm.  Now that certainty is gone.  No on really knows on this thing.

Its not looking too promissing.. As I was saying to a friend of mine that if it remains on a westerly track a little longer than predicted, it could be BAD NEWS for us. What's with the "I" storms.... First Ivan, now maybe Ike... Keep ur eyes on this one for sure. Where its at on monday and tuesday will tell us a lot.

Well crap, what a difference a day makes. Now it really looks like Ike will be a gulf storm but on the good side a very weakened one. There are still 2 cycles of High pressure and frontal systems to prog it through so Ike could still go about anywhere. Its all timing and strength of the aforemetioned. Today Ike moves into the gulf late on the 9th and strikes as a weak TS on the 12th on the FL/MS border. Heck, as long as its a weak TS I dont care where it hits.... Tune in tomorrow.

Well it has a pretty decent chance of just running through the keys and not even making contact with enough land to weaken it.. That's worst case scenario.. But if it does go through the southern part of FL around miami, it also depends on how fast its moving and how much it would actually weaken... But its not looking too good for us reguardless...

I've had no meteorological training, but I'm pretty sure if this thing hits on Fl/MS border we should all be fine.

Thanks Wade, you got anymore good news..

Move the furniture inside, move the furniture back outside, let water out of the pool, put the sandbags in front of the garage, turn yourself around, that's what it's all about.

Is it beer thirty yet?????? The stress is getting to me. We already tanked our month with New Orleans out of business since Saturday, now we have to explain why people aren't going out to eat next week. Geez, corportate office in Salt Lake, have you been watching the news lately???? Ike is not making another run for President, he's a freaking Hurricane....
