My motor trolls, starts, and usually runs like a dream early. After about 10 minutes of running, one cylinder starts skipping.
Could it be the stator, CDM, or would old spark plug wires do that. The only thing I haven't done, yet, is change plug wires, or, get into the engine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

| If you do not have the test equipment or service manual, I would recommend a compression check, changing plugs and filters and running some fuel cleaner through it. Spark plugs, plug wires, switchbox, trigger, fuel system, electrical shorting, bad wires could all cause the prolem you are having. You say you have CDM's, but microfiche for a 95 force 70hp shows it hase coils and switchbox. What is the serial # of you unit? This also makes a difference in testing. Thanks, I am in Atlanta. I have done all the fuel stuff, even down to rebuilding the pump. That made it run a lot better,but, it is still skipping. And, it's only on one cylinder. How can I determine which cylinder is skipping? Where can I get spark plug wires online? I have looked all over and , can't seem to find them.
I don't have the serial # with me but, I'll get it next time I'm at the boat.

are you sure it is one cylinder? what rpm does it happen? there are a few things it can be to cause a "skip". The carb can be globbing fuel and causing a skip. The reeds could be weak, a coil breaking down, etc. You will need a timing light and some tools, a peice of paper. When you are ready to do something with the engine, give me a call and I will explain.

I'm sure it is one cylinder. It runs good for a few seconds, then, bogs down and you can hear it lose a cylinder. Then, it will run good for 20 seconds, bog down, etc.At approximately 20.6 mph, according to my GPS, it runs the smoothest, but, you can still hear and feel it bogging down. At wide open throttle, it bogs down the worst. It'll get up and run smooth, then really bog down.
BTW, I don't have a tach hooked up to check the rpms. Another thing I am working on.
I'm thinking it is either a coil, plug wires, or something else electric.
Like I said, at slow speed and trolling, it runs pretty good, however, you can still hear it skipping.

I really appreciate your input. I don't have diagnostic tools, and, can't afford to take it to a shop, right now.

Sounds about right. Coil, switchbox, wire shorting. Without some test equipment, there are some things to do to get close, but I would rather not say because they are dangerous and I only tell them to someone I have worked with before. sorry.
