I headed out in the kayak nice and early at 5AM today.  Water was glass and you could see everything.  Threw a skitterwalk a couple times and got slammed. It was about a 24in red. A couple more casts and I got another explosion. It was about a 22-23in red.  An hour later, popping cork gets in on the action. Drag starts screaming and the fish is heading to the docks. It starts towing me and Im about to hit one. Now after a couple minutes, Im under a dock fighting this fish. I can feel the line rubbing all over the piling. I've got powerpro though and the fish stays on. Got him in and he was about a 28-29in red.  All fish released to fight another day.

Trout bite was a little slow though. I only got one decent one after about a hundred casts

I dont have any pics because Im an idiot and forgot the camera.

Great day on the yak!
I'm coming down from Cincinnati end of June, can you tell me what a "skitterwalk" is? ;)
I've been told johnson gold spoons, lead heads w/twister tail grubs, but not sure what you're using to catch these awesome reds.
Any info is appreciated!

Here's a skitterwalk.  Its a topwater 'walk the dog' lure from Rapala.

You can buy them at walmart and every tackle shop. Just twitch it and make it go left to right. I've also been using the DOA shrimps under a popping cork.  Pop it a couple times and wait for it to go under!
