Some of you may be aware that several of us have had a couple of meeting's regarding becoming politicly active on a large scale. We have asked for help at every level of government with little or no response from the incumbents. We have also spoke with other watermen along the coast about doing the same thing and all have agreed to let there votes determine who will represent the fishing/ boating community.  Well apparently word has gotten out, atleast to the folks running for office and we will have the opportunity to interview the candidates at each meeting. This next Thursday May 29th we are going to interview Wilson Robertson who is running against Mike Whitehead for the district 1 seat, this is in no way an endorsement for anyone. But we will interview them all on a bi-weekly basis and as a group  then determine who we will get behind.

We will have a sheet for those in attendance to fill out for things that you want changed in the community.

I know some of you may think that fishing is not that big a deal and yes I do have alot at stake, but please realize that if you put all water related activities together along the 5 gulf states commercial fishing, charter fishing, recreational fishing, scuba diving and think about what goes along with all of it,Docks and sea walls water front homes and marina's, boat sale's and boat repair business, tackle shops, dive shops, fuel sales and licensing and registration, permits, insurance and lastly TOURISM.Florida's saltwater fishing industry alone is over 5 billion dollars per year.

WE ARE MAJOR INDUSTRY AND ITS TIME  WE GET                            SOME RESPECT

This is not an RFRA event. Anyone is welcome it is open to the public.

Thanks

CAPT. PAUL REDMAN

this is a VERY SERIOUS matter people and we need to stand up and get very involved or you have no right to complain about what happens to your fishing and boating rights when there taken away or more regs. and prmts. are inposed on you because you just sat at home and didn't come help us fight for YOUR right to fish and boat in florida waters.

a hand full of people can not get the job done. we need EVERYONE that has a boat or a fishing pole to cme to these meetings and let OUR elected officials know that we will be heard and we do and will vote for the ones that will help us get what is rightfully ours to start with.

we shouldn't have to beg and plead with the people of this state to get off their duffs and help wiyh these very important issues that concern each and everyone of us in one way or another. thank you for reading and GOD BLESS. see you at the meeting!!!!!!!

If I can get there, I'll be there. We are going out of town that weekend, but I think we aren't leaving until Friday. We need large numbers here!!!

We have been contacted by a few other candidates so it looks like this might be a step in the right direction for us all.

I hope the folks on here show up that have stated they were.

Thanks

Gentlemen, I have trouble with politicians deciding the future of the gulf fishery.  Why would you want Wilson Robertson's input?  Does he even fish?  Politicians will simply tell you what you want to hear to get your support.  If we don't agree with the current science that dictates what professional managers are doing, then we need to be able to refute their studies via sound science.  Capt Paul and Joe, how many reputable scientists have you contacted to find fault with current scientific studies?  My concern is with individuals' hidden agendas.  Rec fishermen, some charter and commercial are only interested in their business, not the health of the fishery.  Talk to science, not Robertson, Miller, Martinez or Bush.  Silent majority, the vocal minority can ruin your day.

Capt Paul and Joe, how many reputable scientists have you contacted to find fault with current scientific studies?

Five. Two from LSU, one from Berkely and two from Mississippi. There are several studies that not only point to flawed data collection but also directly contradict the current theory that there is a shortage. Also, one study points that all life cycles are cyclical and we are simply in a period that on the low side of the cycle but coming out of it.

Larry, when are you coming on the show?

If you have the opportunity to interview Mike Whitehead, ask him why he doesn't have the professional courtesy to answer his emails, and more importantly ask what he has done with the million $$ the feds gave Escambia County to restore and build boat ramps ?
