Sorry for the late report. I have just now been able to sit down at my computer. Busy busy.

Left out of Big Lagoon around 8am. Rounded up some yummy finger mullet and head on to the pass. The wind was stiff out of the NW and the ride was a little bumpy but not bad for a fisherman. Surprisingly the pass was fairly calm and there was no one out there fishing....(ok I lied, I noticed recess said he was out there. Good Job by the way on the Flounder.) Started dropping baits by 9am and hooked up almost each drop. Went with good friend Chuck and W. We totaled out with catching 21 out of 23 Bull Reds. Biggest fish caught was 18.5 lbs. One slot caught on a huge mullet. I mean the mullet I chucked out was around 12-14" and the Redfish I caught was around 24". I don't know how he gobbled that thing down. This trip we used both bottom gear and light tackle. The fight with the light gear was rockin. My arm is still pumped from it so the typing may contain a bunch of spelling errors... o well. O and did I mention that the blue angles were flying the while we were catching fish. Just a great time out on the water.

P.S- went out Sunday November 16, 2008 conditions where cold winds out of the NW and the pass was flat. This trip we were in search of top water action along the beach. Didn't find any Bulls feeding though.....

redfish on the massachussetts

Fished Monday 11/17/2008 at the Mass with Boo Boo and his father in a Used 19 ft cape horn Boo Boo recently bought. We put 3 redfish 26-27 inch size in the cooler within 5 minutes and then spent about 20 mins playing catch and release with 9 more the biggest being 35and 1/2 inches. They ate anything you put out Livees, Dead bait and soft lures. Had a really good time even though I broke a ultra lite rod on one and had to hand line him to the boat and release. Cruised the beach on the west side of the pass and saw a lot of finger mullet, a few big sheephead and some bull reds cruising the shallows. Nice slick day with good company and redfish for dinner that night. Life doesn't get much better here than that.

ok on the 10th i had BIG Mike and his dad Doc Fisher out for alittle r&r...below is mike with a really nice 7lb redfish...

mike felt bad that his dad was not in a picture so he let him join in on this picture while he took off his trout...

today...november 20th 2008 i went out in search of flounder and redfish. i ran the gulf for alittle while and spotted a couple working the shallows. i drifted the pass and came up empty.

headed to my flounder hole when i spotted some really nice explosions...

after catching a couple of reds went on to my flounder hole and found dinner...

stopped and caught a couple of specks and headed home!

Redfish University this morning in the Sound.

Fished this morning with Ron Fairbanks on his Ranger bass boat. It skips along at 75mph so we got to the areas very, very, very quickly. With some warmer weather upon us, we concentrated on the very shallow flats near Soundside. Lots of mullet and saw an average amount of redfish. Got some nice fish on Gulp! Jerkshads in camo and 1/4oz Johnson Gold Spoons. Long distance spotting and long distance casts are the key. Those fish in there are a wreck and very uncooperative. All fish released.

Fished the grass flats this morning in my kayak from the crack of dawn till 1:30 ish. Only caught 1 small flounder. Saw 1 large red in 1ft. of water right as I was approaching launch site. He fled into deeper water like a torpedo.:doh. Beautiful day though. It was better than working.:letsdrink

white trout fishing 101

wensday 11/19/08 went with konz to the 3 mile bridge in my boat. i am not much of a inshore guy but learning. well we where trying to catch some bull reds, using live white trout it was slow on the reds but the white trout were every cast. and if it wasn't a trout it was a bluefish or ribbonfish. it was no stop. fished for 3 hours and caught 60 white trout 13 ribbonfish couple of blues and ray got a nice 24" red right before we left. i can saftly say i caught more white trout last night than i have the five years i lived here! also caught my first ribbonfish!

awesome night, had a blast, and i think i might of used 1 gallon of gas. not including towing the boat to the ramp! next time gonna go lighter on the tackle to make it more fun! ray told me how to catch the white trout, and after that it was game on. the hardest thing was trying to keep the soft plastic from being destroyed. after 6 or 7 whitetrout and a couple ribbonfish their was not much left of it! but found out that they would hit just about anything that moved! well another great fishing time on the water with friends! fish on!

Long story short, she out-fished me again. She ended up with a nice slot red (21+") and a rat red and all I got was one small trout and some frozen toes... She's got more pics on her phone and I will try to post them later but here's a couple we took when we got home.

whale shark?

so a couple of weeks ago i went out to the liberty. as i was fishing with a buddy of mines, out of nowhere a 25' whale shark was swimming around my boat. there was another boat out there and they saw it too. beautiful animal i tell ya. water was as calmn and clear as it could be. has anyone else ever seen it? isnt it odd for them to be in only 40-50 nfeet of water and that warm? i did take a picture with my phone camera but the glare you could barely see it. just thought id let you guys knnow

Very cold this Morning-34 at my house-frost on the boat when i launched at FR Bridge. Beautiful morning--light mist rising from the water--hungry specks everywhere. Most were small but we manager to get 10 good ones. All total +/-20 for the morning. We caught most on shrimp--some on stick type bait and some on plastic--none were caught on Gulp. Water was falling-hard-all morning--plenty of bait fish-perfect .I took a friend and fellow co worker from BPS--he caught the biggest and most Specks he has ever caught--A very good morning.
Wind picked up--Home--HOT SHOWER--Soup/Crackers/Turkey Sandwich--Ice Tea--Nap Time.

A couple of Trips

I took the kids out to Blackwater Bay last weekend, we had originally planned on 3 mile, but it got pretty cold and windy, so we decided to stay in the little water. We caught a few small reds (some just under slot) and a few specks it was a nice afternoon out. Here are a few pics.

We didn't catch anything huge, but we caught quite a few, and the kids had fun.

I took a buddy of mine who normally fishes fresh water out to 3 mile last night, to give him a crash course in inshore salt water. The conditions were great, no wind, fast moving incoming tide, and a bright moon. The reds were not as active as they have been, but they are still there. The trout and blue fish, on the other hand, were acting like they have never been fed. We landed one nice red and lost about four others, and my buddy kept a few fish for a fish fry this weekend with his family. Here are a few pics.

this one went back in it was a little over 30 inches, but we broke a slot fish off at the boat.

After we finally got a red in the boat, my buddy goes that doesn't really look red. So I said yep and blue fish are not blue and white trout are silver, welcome to salt water fishing...I have had better nights lately as far as the bulls go, but we filled up that cooler in about 3 hours so I can't really complain. And my buddy had a blast, I think he will be salt water fishing for years to come. Thanks for reading and I know it was alot of pictures but my kids wanted me to post them.

Long story, even longer... i think most of you know Cindy (sandy keys) just had the 21st aniversary of her 29th birthday. for her birthday, i wanted to get her something not just anyone could get her. something about 30 pounds or so, with a few spots on its tail.

(one like this would be just perfect!)

we had good success the last few weeks and thought we had a plan for last sunday. well, cindy was not able to go with us last sunday, and we rainchecked until today.

we planed on a casual start from the state park and just some of the 'typical' trolling of stretch 30s along a stretch of beach that we have caught several of our big bulls lately. but, not all days end up like you start them out as. as my luck would have it, the lil' red monster and her 'vintage' evinrude was giving me trouble. i was working on convincing her to cooperate in the cold water and it was taking more than i had hoped for on this day. in the meantime, Julie--my new fishing partner, who is as enthusiastic and eager as any partner you could ever dream of meeting, was just too ready to wet a line. she asked for a rod--one rigged with small Braid spoon on it that she had been throwing at bonito a couple of weekends ago. i thought this was a perfect idea, as i needed a few minutes to 'discuss' a few things with the motor. she and cindy happily walked down the dock leaving me to my work. after a few minutes of turn key, scratch head, repeat, i looked down the dock to see the 'team' in action. Julie was holding the rod with one hand--with one hand in her pocket, and Cindy was reeling with one hand--with her other hand in her pocket. ahhh, teamwork. the ladies were having fun being silly.

a few minutes later both were squealing and moving around franticlly (i'll be in trouble for that remark). but i did see Julie's rod bowed over. a 7' medium action rod with a shimano reel, spooled with new braid that i just bought specifically for redfishing. i expected to see a lady fish jump--given our location, but the rod stayed bowed over and the fish was really working her over. now it was getting serious. i was just begining to think redfish, when Cindy started calling for the net. ok, so now i better drop my duties and get in on whatever was going on. i grabbed up the net and jogged down the dock watching this fish work hard to find a piling or deeper water or some other escape.

i saw silver, and thought 'lookdown?' but it would have to be a HUGE lookdown. i handed Cindy the net and she took up quarters belly-first on the dock, while Julie did her dead level best to guide what i could now see was a very very respectable pompano, into the net. with plenty of pilings and all the confusion, Cindy did a net job that would have made a redfish guide proud and we had supper in the net! all without leaving the dock.

We decided to ditch the boat idea, as this day was about fun and being just casual, and we had no need to be bogged down with any motor woes. we stopped by Grays and got 4 dozen shrimp and asked Shana what the reports were--redfish and black snapper is all she had heard about. i figured we had supper in the cooler, and there was no way we would top that--even if we found some redfish around the docks we had access to. but, off we went--loaded with shrimp, beer and 14 different flavors of chips, we were hard core after it!

i guess we fished maybe an hour and had a few nibbles and maybe a pig fish or two, but no redfish just yet. Cindy kept saying she was getting a hit every time she came by a little rock pile off our dock, and after another cast or two she was hooked up on a nice fish. of course i thought redfish, but when that big wide flash of silver came up, i was just speachless.

i is unusual enough to catch one pompano in the bay in november--but two? i was just estatic. we were going to eat like kings (er, and queens) tonight. these were respectable pompano, too. the first we weighed at just over 3 lbs, and this one was just as big.

we fished until 2 pm, and ended up with not 2 pompano, but 5! we caught the first one at BLSP, and ended up with 4 more at other docks along big lagoon.

Yes, it was THAT cold.

hey, they even let me take one off the hook!! by the way, the end of the day tally was Me-0, girls-5. hey, as long as i get to enjoy supper, i'll filet all the pompano they can catch!

That's number 3 or 4, i cant tell.

another pic of the largest one. the tale-of-the-tape, showed this fish weighing 3 3/4 lbs on the certified bogagrip. the others were all around 3 lbs.

and for the finale of the evening...(after cleaning and naps), it's supper time!!

thats a fillet that'll make ya slap ya mama.

oh heck yea! we ate until we couldnt move.

almost forgot to mention the stingray cube scampi for appetizer, and Cindy's chocolate chip cookies before my fat tummy slips off to sleep!

although the day didnt go the way i planned, the big Captain upstairs somehow seems to nudge you the way he wants you to go.

I hope Cindy finds her 'birthday trip', as memorable as i do.

3mb Monday night

Myself and my buddy (whom we shall call Chicken-Fried from here on out- that's another story!) headed out to 3mb monday evening after work. Got on the water around 8:30 pm. moon jus tstarting to come up, light breeze, moderate incoming tide. Fished until around 11. used trolling motor to move about 30 ft outside of the light's edge and just trolled slowly from the current heavy equipment for the fishing pier out to the first hump stopping at each light. fished the east side out and back. success on gold spoons, DOA shrimp, and 3/4 oz DOA CAL jigheads. No luck on a small trout dropped down to the bottom with a 3 ox weight and a circle hook. No one seemed interested in the bigger live bait. The favorite seemed to be the DOA shrimp with the 8-10lb line- Chicken-Fried landed ribbon fish, larger than normal white trout, and 2 Reds- one of them a big ole HOG! 34-35 inches and a real fatty. When he was bringin in the hog he was manhandling it- I thought he had 30-40lb line on it the way he was attacking it, come to find out it was 8-10lb and he is just a nut! I rounded out the evening with 2 bull reds myself around 33-34 inches on the gold spoon. Great night of fishing!!! Sorry the pics are horrible- regular camera not on board with us.

BTW- all healthy catches and releases.

Wolf Bay--Graham Bayou 11/08/08

90 MPH Wind-Wolf B.-Graham Bayou-Alittleofeverything. 11/18/

Got to Wolf Bay Lodge at first light--someone had left half their trailer in the launch---backed off the end of the ramp. Managed to launch and went to Graham Bayou. Hadnt fished it in a few weeks--thought they may be there--they were. Specks-Reds-Drum- Bass-Cats. Reds to 23 In- total 5. Specks +/- 10--most of them small. One Bass-one cat-one drum. All total a good morning. The wind was bad--low water but the sun felt good.
Home--Wife in Miss--Sandwich/Soup--Ice Tea--Nap Time.

Kings at Perdido / Pensacola Pass

Has anyone tried for kings at the passes?? any live bait over that way! We are thinking of running over that way from Mobile area this weekend just to catch a few kings if they are still there!

Anyone? If they are not we will definity settle for some reds!

11/17 alabama point report

my father-in-law was down for the weekend and he wanted to do some fishing so we stayed inshore since the offshore forecast was not looking good. we got a load of pinfish from the traps and headed over towards alabama point around 7 am. got there and anchored up in front of one of the bridge pilings. it was a falling tide and ripping pretty fast. we immediately started getting hits on our pinfish but it took a couple before we finally hooked a red. my father-in-law pulled in two redfish, one was 26 inches and the other right at 27. i couldnt get past the bluefish as they kept cutting me off. we wanted to catch a couple more reds to fight and release but the blues wiped out the rest of our pinfish. tried some fresh mullet too but they would only hit the pinfish. we then decided to run out the pass and see what was happening along the beach. birds were all over the place and bonita were everywhere on the surface. we eased up to some schools and had some fun catching bobos on jigs and poppers. they kept us entertained for the rest of the morning.

My dad was off work today and I got rained out so we decided to take out the cape horn and try our luck at some inshore. Stop at Outcast Bait and Tackle for bait.....only fiddler crabs, so we decided to try the cast net whne we got out there. Zoomed over to Fort Pickens and I must say that if there is a cast net throwing class, we both need to enroll. FINALLY we got some elwys in the live well and decided to fish the old pier. I had light tackle and hooked something large enough to require drag on the small rig I had, but the drag wouldn't work!!!:banghead Hand dragged the thing for a while, then it snapped off near the boat. My dad gets a hook up with his big bertha rig and gets it to the boat...is that my hook? He hooked the fish I just LOST!!! Turned out to be a grouper, a hair to small. We throw it back. Caught some blues, Dad catches a BIG one. For some reason, we move from the fish producing spot to try a different spot(?????). Move over to the new pier and hook a few small flounder and dad releases two 16 inch reds. We headed out to the pass to finish our day, but no luck on the stretch lures. Try some bottem fishing, but to no avail. Saw some redfish tailing and head over to them. Throw gotchas, DOA, spoons, live bait, nothing. My dad put on some rubber fish and BAM, a 27 inch red!!!:bowdown Decided to call it a day. When I got home I had my wife take a picture of me and the fish, then I go to filleting it. Once I'm done I come in to post the picture, and I see the memory card for the camera sitting by the computer:banghead::doh:banghead!!! I took a couple photos of the filleted fish, not so grand anymore. the last one has a paddle next to the fish to gauge the size

windy, airshows, and flounder

We watched the trees from the house thinking, I wonder what the pass looks like; and like our moto you never know unless you go. So we loaded up the flounder poles and off we went . We got to Sherman cove around 9:30 got a net full of tiger minnows and made our way to the pass . We were greeted by one other boat tearing up the big reds one after another, oh did I mention the wind was probably between 20-30 knots. Got on anchor and as fast as baits went down flounder came up most being around 11 inches. Three dozen baits later we had 5 keepers . Fished some gulp shrimps around some shallow areas but still mostly short flounders. For the final tally was 16 released , 5 got the ride of a lifetime to the frying pan. TIM

fished 3 mile mon. night let the kids and neighbor load the cooler with white trout and ribbon fish. we probably put over 60 trout and 3 ribbon fish in the box. sorry no picts it was late (well dark anyway). But more importantly my 6 year old decided to put his new penn 4300 spinning rod in the rod holder with bait on the end, as I've told him a thousand times not to:banghead:banghead. Well he found out his old man had a reason for this not just to hear myself talk. as a fish hit the pole it stripped it out of the rod holder and proceded to ski across the water. I tried to "catch" his pole for over an hour with no luck. Needless to say we both were very upset:reallycrying. i hope that someone may catch his pole read this post and contact me, i know its a needle in a haystack chance, but odder things have happend. We were under the GB side about 7-10 pilings from the center. it's probably still got 200 yrds of 10lb power pro and a white trout on the end.:reallycrying

3 MB Early evening

Well I had the option to get off work early today. Of course I chose to go fishing. Got the boat ready and headed to 17th st. Met a good friend of mine there "Chris". We hit up our bait spot before sunset, Pinfish are getting harder to find these days. We got about a dozen and headed to the bridge. About 630 we locate the reds. Tonight they were on the bottom. One after another on the lines. We boated 5 tonight all between 630 and 730. All over size. The biggest one I caught and was 39" long. I don't have a scale for weight. We ran out of bait so we headed in and called it a night. It was beautiful out there tonight. The water was like glass. Hopefully the weather guesser is wrong this weekend so I can get back out there. We also caught Ribbonfish and trout.

Great Fishing this past week

What a week of fishing it has been, day trips, night trips you name it I’ve been on the water non-stop.

But hey that’s my business and I love it.

I’ll try and keep this report short. Most of the reds have that I’ve been catching at night have been either on a Berkley Gulp white & brown curly tail grub or a 3” – 4” Shrimp. I’ve also been catching a few on a live white trout.

This redfish hit a live 4" Berkley Gulp, the smile says it all!

When I’m out in the pass, I was using a small half of a frozen Menhaden on a Carolina rig with a # 4 – 5 kale hook. When I’m cruising along the beach or in the bay were tossing Spro Buck Tail Jigs ¾ - 2 oz and it’s fish on. The most exciting fishing to me is hooking these big reds on top-water.

I caught this one on a Top Dog Mirror Lure, oh what fun it was!

Make sure you have very strong hooks 4x times strong or stronger. These big reds will destroy a top-water plug. I like using a Mirror lure Top Dog Jr. ( S84MR )or the Hi-Pitch She Dog ( 83MR ). These top-water plugs have strong hooks and hold up great with these big reds.

Here’s a few ore pictures from the past two weeks.

This is Mike one of my clients from Friday, November 14th, this might be the biggest reds ever landed on my boat. We didn't get a weight, but I'm guessing over 35 lbs maybe even bigger. Just look at the bell on this monster!

Jim from New Orleans had a great day hooking up this red, this is just one of many hooked up that day. Notice the guy in the back ground hooked up too!

I’My good friend Ron that I grew up with back in Indiana came down last week and we had one of the best trips I've every had the conditions were perfect. We left the boat ramp at 4pm and fished till around 10pm what a geat day on the water. We hooked and released over 45 reds that day.

Couple Specks Outta East Bay

Did some exploring today trying to get back into Speck fishing. Ended up with 8 with only 2 as keepers. These were 22" and a 15.5" all that i released were 14" to 14 3/4". It was a exploring day and spent most of the time stuck on some of those hidden sandbars having to pole my way to deeper waters.

Don(Hydro-Theropy2) and I went out to fish by the 3-mile bridge tonight and what a great time we had. Dons first catch was a white trout, then the second throw he lands a keeper red fish, his very first red fish!:clap We were hooked white trout left and right but we hooked up and landed 4 more very nice red fish but all were over the limit:banghead. it was funny, both of us hooked up on them at the same time. Mine was the biggest measuring 34", and his big one was about 31". We decided to call it a night about 12 though cause it was getting pretty rough out there. Went to the Pass last night and had to wait for a couple of hours but ended up with these two beauties. Largest was 22 lbs. Both fish released unharmed.

Well for the last three weeks I have been Fishing alot. I have primarily been focusing on Flounder( I have been looking for new spots and trying to learn how to better fish the pass for them). I have caught nine legal fish on my last four trips on lures, and three legal fish on live bait. As for the red fish i have been killing them. A good freind of mine aron and i caught seven reds over slot the other night, plus thirteen of the biggest white trout i've seen. We also went to the pass a few weeks ago and caught a red that was 49 3/4 inches long!!!! I have really learned alot about the fall flounder and red run here latley(MOON PHASE) !! But i discovered a very interesting thing about two 1/2 weeks ago. Early one morning i left the ramp alone in my boat and headed to a spot i thought should contain some large flounder. I fished the spot for about thirty minutes or so with only one bite on my gulp. Well frustration and lack of sleep started to take over and i was thinking about running to the pass when i saw a little commotion ontop of the water. I grabbed my topwater rod and launched the CHUG BUG around the area and worked it four or five times when a got a weak strike, somehow the fish missed the plug. I threw back; and instantly received another ok strike, and the fish missed the plug again, i worked the lure once more, missing again, well i was good and pissed off by this point thinking i missed a legal fish so i threw once more, and started to work the plug when my flourcarbon leader caught one of the treble hooks and caused the lure to dance like a zara spook and resulting in the fish missing it once more!!!! I then said quietly a few choice words and luck prevailed when the lure untangled itself and the fish then erupted on it!! This time i FIRMLEY set the hook and instantly realized that this was no legal fish!!!! This FISH was very large and in charge. After the initial hook set i lessened my drag due to the soft moth's that trout have and started in after the fish with the boat meanwhile weaving the fish in and out of structure!!!! Finally i landed this fish!!!! the fish measured 28 1/2 and I guess weighed around 7 1/2 -8 1/2 pounds!!!! I think that this is my largest weighing trout ever. For the next few trips i fished the same area were i caught this beast; I caught several flounder and a very large red in this area. I ALSO CAUGHT SITE OF A TROUT MUCH BIGGER THAn THIS ONE!!!! I figured i would save that fish for next year lol. I LIKE FALL!!!

Perdido Snapper

My dad and I picked up a few dozen live shrimp and headed out to the ICW bridge in Perdido. With the tide moving we wanted to drift some shrimp in hopes of a few black snapper for lunch. We caught a ton of big pinfish and pigfish and several small snapper. Wading through all the little guys did manage to put 4 keepers in the cooler and a bonus pompano. It was a nice morning to get out, and the lunch was second to none! Tight lines.

3 mile bridge moday night

Headed out to 3mb for my first run at the redfish hotspot. I was not disappointed. Ran into all of the blues and trout you could land. Picked up a freind at 17th st launch and went back out. Put out the minnkota and did a slow troll between the new pier being built and the bridge. Within 3 casts my buddy landed a slot red. nice fish. wasn't long and the drag was screaming on one of the larger rods. nice bull brought to the boat. Ended the night getting spooled with something that put a hurtin on my lighter tackle doa CAL jig- I was going for a few more trout and he just sped off with about 100yds of line before I could stop him! Anywa- great night and loking forward to heading out again.

ICW Wind Rain No Water Reds Specks 11/12/08

Very strong wind---no water---light rain---but we caught some fish. I took a friend and co worker from BPS fishing in his front yard. We didnt get far from his Condo at Sailboat Bay but we managed to catch some nice fish. We caught +/-10 reds and +/- 15 specks. Not many big ones but a lot of fun. The weather got to looking bad--time to go--Home--Bath-- Red Beans/Rice with Cornbread--Ice Tea--Nap time.

2 Redfish Univ. Reports from East Bay and BW Bay.

Monday morning, fished with Jason Harris in East Bay. Found out that I need to charge my camera battery every once in a while, so no photos. Sightfished 8 decent redfish in very shallow water with Gulp! 3" Shrimp rigged weedless. All fish released.

Today was another story. Fished with Mike Webb and son, Conner, in Blackwater. Mike and Conner were October's HLS Seminar Series raffle winners and wanted to catch some trout and redfish. Started up river with some speckled trout(12-17") action while we waited for some water movement in BW Bay. Headed to BW Bay around 8am and found very little fish, almost none. Managed to stick 4-5 small fish on Johnson Gold Spoons blindcasting in 3-4' of water. I actually sightfished a very nice 27" or over redfish on the bow only to have the hook pull. That's how the day went!! Lost a few more fish that I hooked and lost in transition to young Conner. Seems I need to set a better hook.:) Sorry Conner!! Also, got a small black drum on a spoon. A very slow day, but we had tons of fun and hopefully Mike and Conner learned alot. Mike, Conner and I will redeem ourselves in the spring near their home in Navarre on a "make up" trip. All fish released.

I would be interested in how some other boats did in the BW area today. Went to all the backup plans and racked my brain to figure out the problem. I got nothin'!! Very frustrating.

Decent Night and Need help with Crab ID

the post is a little late but this is the first chance i;ve had. Me my daughter,brother and 2 nephews went out saturday after the alabama game (roll-tide). The white trout weren't biting good but we did manage a few and ended up with a few bulls here is a picture of one my girl caught. I know she is not supporting it right but she wanted a picture holding by herself.

Fished today in BW with a couple of friends from Georgia. Found the fishing to be very tough. We had to head to protected backs when the wind picked up to try to sightfish some reds. Once we were there, we found good concentrations of slot sized fish in 3-4 foot of water. Saw a school of 10-15 upper slot reds. Hooked 3 of them and landed 1. The fish were very stubborn and didn't like the idea of being hooked. The one that was caught was 26 3/4" and weighed 6lbs. The young lady also picked up and nice trout to top the day off. Total count was 7 reds...mostly rats and 4 trout.

All fish were caught on Gulp! shrimp and Johnson Spoon.

got out of school yesterday and got dropped off at the GB boat launch at my dad,mom,brother,aunt and uncle picked me up and we went out to 3 mile...got some white trout, alot of ribbon fish and this HUGE one.

then we went out today and tried to go outside but was a little too rough for our yankee guests so we went back to three mile and on the way we saw this research vessel and dolphins playing at the bow.

On the water with Country at first light---on the first cast a small trout--it only got better as the sun got higher. Bon Secour was good--piers--pilings and flats all produced good fish. Some were caught on shrimp--some on Gulp--and some were caught on plastic. We caught +/- 8 Reds to 24 in --+/- 20 specks to 18 in--Country lost some good ones--one Sheep--Croakers and a Cat. A very good morning. Wind got high--Home--Bath--Went to KFC with the Wife and ate Chicken--Went to Wal-Mart and spent $$$$--Came home and tried to catch up on my long list of things to do. A good day.

Weekend fishing

The weather lately has been great. The bad news was my boat was in the shop for the whole month of October. The good news is the guys up at outboards unlimited have got my Key West running again and me back on the water. Caught these Specks in Blackwater Bay last weekend.

This weekend caught some flounder in the pass and a nice 26 inch Redfish around Garcon Point Bridge. All fish caught with Gulp Shrimp.

LOTS of SPOTS

Slipped out for two hours today to do some sightfishing. Perfect conditions but only saw one fish. It ate a bass assassin blurp shrimp and the really cool thing was the spots. Wish I had someone with me to take a better picture but at least you can see the pattern. It weighed in the high 20s, big head but long and skinny.

Both sides were equally patterned.
