| I was preping my 23' mako today for paint ( sanding down to fiberglass) started noticing cracks around the outboard cutout. to make a long disappointing story short the whole transom was soaking wet and rotten. Got everything cut out . My question is coosa or marine plywood? sorry in advance if there is a similar post. chris

| Hey Fred! How's the boat doing? We had fun meeting you at the ECMako raft-up last month. Bamafan - I sent you a PM about ClassicMako as well. It is a great resource and one of the biggest contributors leaves in P'cola....I'm sure he will be along soon..... He has a nose for finding boat repair questions!

| hey steve, boat is doing so-so. i went out last sunday like a dip@#@ with the 25knot winds and 4ft in the bay. showed up some shortcomings on my ride i need to shore up. nothing really involved, just will be time consuming. good thing its cooling down. will have to make some time. and yes, had a great time at the raft up. wife eventually came around and liked it too. will definitely have to do that again. in the meantime, will try gigging on my...errr......my sons new ride. 15 alumacraft with 30 mercury 4stroke. very fast but very wet since it's a tiller.

Thinking about laying a layer of 7.5oz glass over the whole bottom.
Why? That is pretty light weight glass. ALL the gelcoat will need to be removed.
